In addition to his name, Ganzer owned a 1950 Ford Woody as a teenager and always had one in the driveway, which he used to carry all his surboards to the beach.
“Woodys started as a symbol for Surf in the 60’s and inspired a subculture as the surfing woody” as it was the transportation for longboarders. To accompany the Jimmy’z name, Ganzer added a picture of himself from his earlier years to accent the name. Later, he depicted the woody as part of the advertising campaign in front of everything that included the Eiffel Tower and built a campaign of the “woody around the world.”

The JIMMY’Z aura exploded into the hands and minds of the consumer seeking “hip” and “cool” clothes and the image it portrayed. Jim began testing and refining the design by selling to local Santa Monica and Malibu surfers out of his garage and at weekend outings at Topanga Beach and Malibu. The end product was an immediate hit with the beach locals and the demand grew.
